49ers Re-Sign Larry Grant and Brett Swain

The 49ers announce they have signed both Larry Grant and Brett Swain to one-year deals. Larry Grant is A 26-year-old a native of Santa Rosa, CA. He was originally selected by the 49ers in 2008 in the 7th round. He joined the 49ers in 2011 after spending three years on the St. Louis Rams. He played in all 16 games, starting three games. He also played in both post season games. He had a career high 30 tackles, 2 sacks, and a forced fumble.

The 49ers signed Swain on 10/12/11, and he went on to play in five games (one start), tallying 2 receptions for 15 yards last season.

Spin: Larry Grant is a solid linebacker and looked good starting for Patrick Willis when he was injured. The 49ers have an elite linebacking core and Grant adds depth and insurance to that.
Brett Swain, on the other hand, is probably just there for training camp purposes. I think the 49ers will draft a receiver somewhere in the draft. If you combine that with their recent free agent pick ups, I cant see Swain making the team.
