49ers' Rounds Five Through Seven Wrap-up

In the 5th round, the 49ers selected Darius Fleming a 6'2" 245LB linebacker from Notre Dame. Fleming had 55 tackles, 3½ sacks, one interception and one forced fumble for the Fighting Irish last season. Fleming is a superb rusher who has a strong burst off the line to get into a tackle. He could be a liability in coverage though.

In the sixth round, they picked Trent Robinson and Jason Slowey. Trent Robinson is a 5'10" 195LB Free Safety out of Michigan State who had the second fastest 40 time out of the safetys. He is a versatile safety who shows outstanding instincts and awareness and displays the requisite toughness to play in the middle despite his slender frame. Jason Slowey is a 6'3" 303LB center out of Western Oregon. Slowey is a mauler/brawler with toughness.

In the seventh round, the 49ers took Cam Johnson a 6 foot 3" 268LB defensive end out of Virginia. Johnson is a talented defender with solid overall skills. He surprisingly fell down draft boards, but is capable of emerging as a key contributor in a backup role.
