Audio of Saints Being Told To Hurt 49ers Players Surfaces (Audio Inside)

Audio of former Saints defensive coordinator Greg Williams instructing his defense to go after and hurt several 49ers players before last season's playoff game surfaced today. Yahoo’s Mike Silver reported the audio was recorded by Sean Pamphilion. Pamphilion is a filmmaker who is making a documentary about Steve Gleason, the former Saints player who has ALS.

The audio was recorded at the team’s hotel in San Francisco before the playoff game in January. In it Williams can be heard emphasizing over and over to hurt players heads. He even suggested that all of his players make sure to go after heads while in the pile. He was aware of all the 49ers prior injuries and told his team to go after them one by one.

Quotes from audio:

On Frank Gore “Kill Frank Gore’s head." and "We need to decide on how many times we can beat Frank Gore’s head."

“Every single one of you, before you get off the pile, affect the head. ... Touch and hit the head.”

On Kendall Hunter: “Little 32, we want to knock the [expletive] out of him.”

On Kyle Williams, who has concussion history: “We need to find out in the first two series of the game, the little wide receiver, No. 10, about his concussion. We need to [expletive] put a lick on him right now. “

On Michael Crabtree: “We need to decide whether Crabtree wants to be a fake [expletive] prima donna, or he wants to be a tough guy. We need to find it out. He becomes human when we [expletive] take out that outside ACL [sic].

On Vernon Davis "We need to decide how many times we can bullrush and we can [expletive] put Vernon Davis’s ankles over the pile."

Ironically this audio comes to light on the same day members of the Saints organization; including head coach  Sean Payton, assistant coach Joe Vitt, and general manager Mickey Loomis, were at the NFL offices trying to appeal their suspensions. I cant imagine this is going to help their case. A case that they a no chance of winning before this smoking gun audio.

SPIN: I doubt any of their players received any cash after their performance in that game. If you didnt know better  when you saw the game you would think the 49ers got paid for big hits. The Niners hit them and hit them hard but they did it with legal hits. The werent conserned with taking players out the game. They were more concerned with tackling the ball loose and they did that all game long.
