Colin Kaepernick Reacts to Boldin Trade

San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick is a happy man with today’s news that the 49ers have traded for receiver Anquan Boldin.

Kaepernick told Trey Wingo on NFL Live that no one had officially informed him that the trade with the Ravens to acquire Boldin was on, but that he was already getting excited about the possibility of playing with Boldin.
“I just heard the rumors probably about 30 minutes ago,” Kaepernick said. “If that’s a true statement and that’s going to happen, that’s another great weapon for our offense, another great weapon for our team, and he’d be a great contributor.”

Although 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said last year that the team had five No. 1 receivers, the reality is that after Michael Crabtree, they didn’t have much. Randy Moss won’t be back, Mario Manningham and Kyle Williams are both recovering from serious knee injuries, Ted Ginn is an unrestricted free agent and last year’s first-round draft pick, A.J. Jenkins, was a major disappointment. That’s why Kaepernick acknowledged that receiver was a position of need for the 49ers.

“We need another receiver,” Kaepernick said. “We have great receivers already, but he’s another great addition. I think everybody saw what he’s capable of this past year, what he did in the Super Bowl, so that’s just another playmaker on our team.”
