Parys Haralson agrees to new one-year contract

The 49ers and outside linebacker Parys Haralson have agreed to terms on a one-year contract, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Monday night.

Haralson appears to have taken a pay cut. Per Rotoworld salary figures, Haralson was slated to make $2.57 million in salary in 2013. (According to Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com, Haralson’s total 2013 compensation was to be $2.87 million.)
However, according to Rapoport, Haralson’s 2013 base compensation is now $1.3 million and can reach a maximum of $1.7 million.

Haralson, 29, missed the 2012 season with an arm injury; Maiocco reported in January that it was a torn triceps.

If healthy, Haralson gives the 49ers another experienced option at outside linebacker. Aldon Smith, as Rapoport reported last week, is coming off of labrum surgery.

From 2007 to 2011, Haralson started 68 games at outside linebacker for the Niners, notching 21.5 sacks.
