Michael Crabtree isn’t circling a date on the schedule

The 49ers have wide receiver Michael Crabtree back at practice, something that brings the prospect of a little more excitement to the offense and something that excited Crabtree a great deal on Wednesday.

Crabtree said he was the first person out on the practice field on Wednesday, stretching well before the start of practice “for no reason” because he was so fired up about getting back on the field after his Achilles injury. Crabtree also said that all the excitement about his return to the field isn’t going to lead him to push himself too far too fast when it comes to returning to game action, however.

“I’m just going to go day-by-day,” Crabtree said, via the San Francisco Chronicle. “You get into circling dates and it’s kind of rushing yourself to be ready by then. I just feel like I need to go one day at a time.”

The 49ers have thrown the ball less often than any team in the league, something that hasn’t stopped them from getting off to a 6-2 start but is a limitation to the offense that teams could exploit down the road. Getting Crabtree and Mario Manningham, who is expected to play this week, back should make that less of an issue for the Niners moving forward.
