Glenn Dorsey returns to practice

The 49ers defense got an old friend back in the mix at practice on Monday.

Defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey took part in practice for the first time since being place on injured reserve with the designation to return because of a biceps tear he suffered in the preseason.

“[Dorsey's] conditioning was really good,” Harbaugh said, via the team’s website. “We’ll ramp it up more as the week goes on.”

Dorsey can practice for three weeks before the team must make a decision about placing him on the active roster or returning him to injured reserve for the remainder of the season. Ian Williams has played well in Dorsey’s absence, although the 49ers could certainly use another active body up front as they push for a playoff spot in the second half.

Running back Marcus Lattimore is expected to practice on Wednesday as he tries to make his way off the PUP list and into the lineup for the first time as a professional player. Linebacker NaVorro Bowman is a bit further away in his recovery from the knee injury he suffered in the NFC Championship Game.
